Welcome Back!

The start of a new school year is upon us and off to a great start. I wanted to update and remind everyone of all the requirements for students to have for school. First up are immunizations...this is a big one because I have to report to the state and we have to follow their guidelines. Please get your children vaccinated and up to date right away. If you have questions about this please contact me and I will be happy to go over this with you. Any student that is not up to date will not be able to return to school after fair break. Please get this done prior to or over fair break. Target groups this affects are Kindergarten students, seventh graders, and seniors...if you have a student in any of these grades and your child is not up to date you will be hearing from me soon! If you do not vaccinate or have decided to stop vaccinating your child I have a paper I need signed to put in their file. Thank you for taking care of this very important matter.

Now on to some other tidbits to make it a successful year. Please encourage your child to eat breakfast and lunch daily...this can be at home or at school but students need to eat to perform well. Middle school students seem to be the worst about eating breakfast and lunch. Most of the complaints I get are directly related to not eating, for example, headachae, tired, stomach ache, dizzy, all of these things are typically fixed with some juice and graham crackers. Students don't have to eat a huge breakfast or lunch but they need to eat something and they will be surprised how much better they feel and perform.
Medications: If your child needs to take medication at school please contact me so we can get the medication to school and fill out the appropriate paper work. Please DO NOT send medication to school with a student and a note to give it. I will not dispense prescription medication without a doctor's order. All prescription medication needs to be brought to the school by a parent or guardian, not sent in with the student. If a student needs over the counter medication, I still need to speak with a parent/guardian and fill out appropriate paperwork. Not contacting me prior to the student needing the medication may cause a delay in receiving it. Again, thank you for understanding the process to dispense medication at school.

Medication Forms: Students who need to take mediation at school will need to have a form signed by a parent/guardian. Prescription medication has to have a form signed by a physician. I have attached the forms below.

OTC Med Form

Physician Med Form

Prescription Med Form
We had a rough year last year with illness and I am hoping for a better one this year. A few things parents can do to help us out with this is, please keep your child home if they are running a fever, do not send them to school if they are vomiting or have vomited prior to leaving the house, and lastly children must be fever free for 24 hours without medication prior to returning. Please remind children to wash their hands frequently and always after using the restroom and before eating.
Here's to another great year! Please call me with any questions or concerns. Thank you.
