RULH Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mrs. Patricia Skaggs as she has been selected as the 2020-2021 RULH Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Skaggs is an outstanding teacher who has served the students of RULH Local School District for 31 years. Mrs. Skaggs has taught Consumer Science at Aberdeen Elementary, RULH Jr./Sr. High School and RULH Middle School. As a teacher, she strives to make learning fun by engaging students with creative activities.

Mrs. Skaggs gives back to the students, staff and community in countless ways! She serves as the middle school FCCLA Advisor, newspaper advisor and yearbook advisor. In the past, she has worked as RULH Food Service Director and technology assistant. Mrs. Skaggs is currently working on a grant from Youth Service America and partnering with local community groups ("Ripley Rise", the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department and the Ripley Women's club) that will allow students and community members to decoratively paint some of the fire hydrants in Ripley. The project is called "Project Spark of Art, Paint A Hydrant" and the hydrants will be painted during the weekend of April 23rd-25th.

Furthermore, Mrs. Skaggs is a "shining light" within the middle school building. She prepares monthly staff appreciation luncheons and also takes a special picture of staff members and their families at the middle school staff Christmas gathering. She then gives each family a picture as a keepsake. Mrs. Skaggs is a primary contributor to the positive culture and climate at RULH Middle School.

We greatly appreciate all that Mrs. Skaggs does for the students, staff, and community! Thank you Mrs. Skaggs!!!!
