First Grade News

The first grade at RULH Elementary School has been very busy. They have been reading A LOT and learning about blends, digraphs, long and short vowels and nouns. Each week, Julie Carpenter from the Union Township Public Library has been visiting. She brings a fabulous book to read.

Ms. Carpenter's son, Kenton, uses sign language to communicate, and she has also been teaching the first graders signs each week, including animal, feeling and family words. Kenton came to visit recently, and it was remarkable to see how how fast his mother and he communicated. His visit added even more excitement to learning new signs and practicing the ones that had been previously learned.
