RULH Schools Recognizes Excellence in Teaching
RULH Schools Recognizes Excellence in TeachingEach year, teachers and administrators in the RULH School District select an outstanding educator to represent the district in the Teacher of the Year - Excellence in Education Award for Brown County Schools. RULH Schools selected Mrs. Tammy Pfeffer as our Teacher of the Year and to represent the district in the 2017 competition.

Caring, committed to her students, encouraging, and supportive, are just a few of the words Mrs. Pfeffer’s co-workers use to describe her and her dedication to the teaching field.

Mrs. Pfeffer received her Associate degree at Maysville Community College, and her Bachelor degree at Northern Kentucky University. She has been included in Who’s Who Among Student in America, graduated with honors, and is an International Honor Student for Phi Theta Kappa, a Golden Key Scholar, and the Outstanding Educator for Outstanding Contributions for Students with Disabilities.

Mrs. Pfeffer began her education career with RULH in 2012 as an Intervention Specialist at the High School. Since that time she has played an integral role in the direction and success of the High School, having served on both the District and Building Leadership Team, the Attendance Team, Parent Teacher Partnership Facilitator, SLO Committee, internal facilitator for PSDG, and Lead Intervention Specialist at the High School. She has been trained in Non-violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention. Before coming to RULH, Mrs. Pfeffer worked at Georgetown Exempted Village Schools for one year.

In her spare time, Mrs. Pfeffer gives back to her community be being a 4-H equine advisor working with students on their projects and conducting monthly meetings. She was the RULH Athletic Booster treasurer working with parents on fund raisers, helping students pay for sports and helping the school with anything they might need. Mrs. Pfeffer is currently the president of the Ohio Kentucky Horse Club Association, having previously held the offices of reporter and treasurer. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader of 23 young ladies helping them develop their full potential.

Mrs. Pfeffer’s commitment to the RULH school district and her students is summed up best by these quotes from her colleagues:

“She goes above and beyond to help both her own students and students not on her case load. Her ability to teach to the student is impeccable. Tammy truly cares about her students, both inside and outside the classroom. She understands that so many times students cannot learn if their basic needs aren't being met. She will help gain those needs through resources at the school, so then her students not only turn in papers but LEARN and PASS the course. Mrs. Pfeffer ensures that all students are safe, happy, and fed both at school and at home. She is always helping with academics, social-emotional issues, and organizing the Intervention department in our building to ensure this school and district run smoothly. She wants to see every student succeed and everyone here knows it because her actions show in the school, the district, and the community. Just some of the things she does include taking two juniors to prom because they have no other way of getting there, taking on PROM advising, donating to the PBIS committee, coordinating testing of all students with disabilities in our high school, listening to the woes of students, and raising her grandson. Tammy is always there to help encourage and support new teachers.”

Congratulations to Mrs. Pfeffer, and thank you for your hard work and dedication to the students at RULH!
