Second Grade News
This year has blasted off to a great start! This week second grade has been working on the following skills: complete sentences, subjects and predicates, main idea and details, long vowels, space exploration and place value in math. The students have really enjoyed the story, Exploring Space with as Astronaut. We watched a virtual tour of the space station and the students learned many interesting things on how the astronauts live and work. They thought the “kitchen” and the sleeping arrangements were quite fascinating! After Labor Day, we will continue our space exploration and then the following week we will be reading Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night. We will incorporate our space science lessons during this story. Encourage your child to view the moon and stars each night and talk about how they change!

Second Graders along with the whole building have been working on being “green” after walking through the schoolwide GO GREEN mobile assembly last Friday. If your child has not mentioned the assembly, encourage them to discuss the rules learned about at each station. They are practicing the JAYS rules throughout the building so they can earn green tickets. They will be able to use their green tickets to purchase items in the school’s GO GREEN store in the near future.

Please encourage your child to:
Just show respect.
Always do their best.
You should always follow school rule.
Smile and be a good friend.

Second grade has their first GO GREEN studentsof the year; they are: Marley, Shade, and Paul.
Way-to-go boys!!!
